Holistic Program

Our Holistic Program for Young Adult Women

All too often, the only treatment options for young adult women that are in crisis are short-term psychiatric treatments that only last for 3-7 days.   Then you or your loved one are discharged home without ever having the chance to dive into and address the issues that are causing you distress.  Wind of Change has found that young adult women treated in the “revolving door” inpatient treatment facilities quickly fall back into old behaviors once they return home. This is generally for two reasons; first, patients are just stabilized on medications but have not had a chance to dig deep into the issues that are causing them distress.  Second, women have not had enough time to learn and practice new skills to help them cope with their life stressors.  Wind of Change offers long-term behavioral health treatment to help you once and for all become the young woman you want to be.

A Young Adult Residential Treatment Center that Works in the Real World

Attending our young adult residential treatment center gives you a safe retreat in a loving family-style environment where the negative distractions that previously influenced you are eliminated. At the same time, you or your loved one will learn to function in a real-world family setting, making the adjustment from residential treatment to home much smoother.

Activities and Treatment

Through various specifically designed evidence-based treatment approaches and tailored therapeutic methods, you or your loved one will learn to cope with your emotions and not be a risk to yourself or others. Wind of Change utilizes evidence-based group therapies and individual therapies and integrates the ever-so-important family therapy. Some examples of the evidenced-based therapies used in our therapy sessions are;

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT),
  • Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR),
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),
  • Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), and
  • Seeking Safety (a specific program for treating trauma in women.)
  • Experiential Therapy

You or your loved one will participate in individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy under the supervision of a licensed professional counselor daily. A psychiatrist for medication management will also see you every week.

Mindset Changes and Challenges Program

One of the most critical functions of residential treatment programs is to build trust between you or your loved one and their treatment team. While attending Wind of Change’s young adult residential treatment center, you will have the benefit of temporarily leaving the negative distractions and pressures of life behind. This frees you so you can focus on finding yourself and discovering who you truly are. The Mindset Changes and Challenges Program takes young adult women and encourages changes in their behavior.  You or your loved one will be encouraged to work honestly on the behaviors, attitudes, and issues that are forcing you to seek treatment. Once you are successful, you will grow your self-worth and dignity, allowing you to do the painstaking task of looking honestly inward. With the emotional growth that occurs, you will be able to heal from your past traumas, utilize healthy coping skills and look forward to your brighter future.

Is the Entire Program “Mind” Work?

The mind isn’t the only area you or your loved one will be focusing on.  Wind of Change focuses on the ENTIRE person. Our treatment philosophy for young adult women is to provide you with appropriate therapy for your mind, body, and soul. We offer quality nutrition exercises specifically designed for young adult women to build up their physical health and mental well-being. Likewise, we work on your spiritual development, increasing her inner strength and peace. We encourage you to examine your conscience momentarily and observe your progress daily. We also review with you your progress toward meeting your measurable and obtainable treatment goals bi-weekly. We encourage you to grow in virtues such as patience, compassion, tolerance, forgiveness, respect, motivation, honesty, self-control, and responsibility. As you practice these, you will internalize these coping skills and characteristics as your own.
